Friday, August 29th</h2><br /><img src="file:///Users/Daphne/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot-2.jpg" alt="">As the first part of Waveform weekend, tonight we welcome back <b>Red Earth</b>.<br /><br />Chris Wizard (galactic) and Jess Sparkle (electric) whose DJ style, earlier described as 'psychill with an eastern flavour', <br />now encompasses a diversity ranging from folky electronica to shoegaze to psydub, through a wide range from beatless ambient <br />to progressive, often favouring that ambiguous space between grooving and blissing out, dark electronic or light, melodic and fluffy! <br /><br />They are accompanied on occasion by a talented djembe player and a wonderfully graceful fusion belly dancer, which adds <br />an extra dimension to their sets. Carlin is best remembered for the seven words you can never say on television and was once arrested after a performance in Milwaukee after saying them onstage. The charges were eventually dismissed by a judge in a clear victory for the First Amendment. We will be screening his 2005 stand up show 'Life is Worth loosing' considered one of his more hard hitting performances, plus a selection of clips and a retrospective 'George Carlin 40 years of Comedy'. This is a night for those who have been inspired by his stand up work to come and witness again, George at his most honest and realist. Its also a chance for those of you who haven't been introduced to this maverick and daring comic to discover one of the greatest social commentators of our time. If your a fan of Bill Hicks, Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, David Cross etc or just someone that likes to hear the truth spoken out simply and plain, we highly recommend this evening to you.<br /><br /> <b> George Carlins background<br /></b><br />George Carlin, arguably, is the greatest and (after Lenny bruce) most influential stand-up comedian of all time. An Irish Catholic born and raised in the Morningside Heights neighbourhood of New York City, Carlin started out as a conventional comedian and had achieved a fair degree of success as a Bill Crosby style raconteur in nightclubs and on TV until the late 1960s, when he radically overhauled his persona. The new persona, which is more in line with who and what George Carlin is, has been "George Carlin" ever since and is what made him a great stand-up comedian. Carlin's forte is Lenny Bruce-style social and political commentary, spiced with nihilistic observations about people and religion peppered with black humour. He is also noted for his use of language. We <br />have cyan341 with deep Detroit sounds, whose released music on <br />uncharted audio, kreislauf and will soon have releases out on smallfish <br />and rednetic. Inigo Kennedy Globally know for his techno is showcasing his <br />more mellow experimental side, something he did to great effect on his <br />rednetic release - Transaction. We have Recue all the way from Finland <br />celebrating his Rednetic release - All The Wrong Places, where "dulcet <br />tones flicker over crunchy beats and airy atmospherics. Finally we hav e a <br />Hybernation DJ set of glitch and electronica and deep techno. <br /> <br />Rednetic recordings is an electronica label started in 2002 by Mark <br />Streatfield, aka Zainetica, as a way of releasing his own music. It soon <br />grew as friends started producing quality music as well. Since the <br />acclaimed one point one compilation in 2004, many other artists <br />including Cheju, Infinite Scale, Ochre and Lackluster have produced <br />music for the label. <br /> <br /><div class='cms-inlineimage'><img src="http://synergy.ralf.netmindz.net/_inline-images/rednetic_poster_20th_june-485ae3756a00f.jpg" /></div> <br /><br /><b><br />Saturday the 21st </b><br /><h2>Interchill Records :: organic electronica for expanding minds</h2><br />Bringing their own unique style of downtempo sounds to the world for over 13 years, Interchill Records is in the midst of their busiest year to date. In a trans-Atlantic session at the Inspiral Lounge on June 21st., two of the label's behind the scenes characters will surface to drop some of the latest tracks cruising through their respective orbits. Join DJ's Nick Edell and Naasko to kick off the summer in a not-so-chill manner.<br /><br />Nick Edell is Interchill's longtime label DJ/A&R/graphic designer and webmaster. In 2007 he put together the bass and breaks compilation Devil In The Detail and also released tracks with Seb Taylor under the Radiate moniker. Nick likes to mix it up and play his way through many genres of chill, from the deep dub, to glitchy techno, to world music, bleepy electronica, minimal ambience and pretty much anything else that he likes at the time.<br /><br />Naasko has been managing Interchill for the past year and a half from his home in the mountainous region of south central BC, Canada. A DJ for 12 years, he has played around the world, co-produced two ambient albums, released tracks on Native State Records as Sympath and compiled 2 albums for Interchill.
