Fraser Clark Benefit - Megatripolis Reunion

Hello Dear Friend of inSpiral

this is an extraordinary email as we need to tell you about an important event this Thursday - our long standing friend and inspiration Fraser Clark has recently been diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. His time with us is possibly drawing to a close. A special one-off Megatripolis event is being held as a fund-raiser for specialist medical care.

WE WANT YOU TO COME

In the late 1980s Fraser was the creator and editor of the Encyclopaedia Psychedelica, (EPi) a London based magazine, which achieved international recognition. In it he developed the concept of, and coined the phrase Zippie, with the idea of saving the planet, encouraging a return to consciousness and embracing technology.

In 1990 he was the editor of Evolution, which was the flagship magazine of rave culture, and which gained wide recognition both here and in America, thus paving the way for Fraser's next move into dance c ulture...

In 1993 he founded Megatripolis - one of the first events to recognise the synergy arising from combining New Age ideology with Rave culture. It was the first UK indoor festival where people were exposed to cross-cultural ideas and experiences.

Megatripolis was also a pioneer of the "Parallel University", the concept of offering live talks by philosophers, scientists and activists (along with supporting literature) to club-goers. Visits from speakers such as Allen Ginsberg, Terence McKenna, George Monbiot, Howard Marks and Ram Dass were common.

Megatripolis spawned a thousand imitators and is perhaps Fraser's most enduring legacy.

In the late 1990's, Fraser teamed up with alternative theatre writer / actor / director / genius Ken Campbell to create The Warp Experience, a 24 hour stage play by Neil Oram, within a 24 hour party.

The Warp Experience was based at The Drome - the cavernous tunnels under London Bridge Station now known as seOne. After it finished, a number of the production crew went on to create The Synergy Project - now known as Luminopolis.
Fraser's trailblazing has led directly to the amazing parties that we run today - he is our spiritual grandfather.

Like their ancestors and most current mathematicians and physicists, Zippies have abandoned organised rules of logic in favour of reality hacking - riding the waves, watching for trends, keeping an open mind, and staying connected to the flow. He will absorb it and allow it to work within him, bathing all his cells in golden light. As he sends the love back out to us, we will visualise the flow of golden energy radiating out, healing, carrying all dis-ease with it, transforming discomfort into joy and worries into peace, activating a beautiful Circle of Love that will flow out through London, the planet's Heart Chakra. This is our time. Fraser will no doubt ascend to Higher Heaven at this point, disappearing in a lightning flash! (TBC)

The Guest DJ slot at the Halloween Sphongle Pre-party on Friday will be taken by Ott, fresh from releasing his second solo album under the name 'Skylon'. You can expect unique modern electro-acoustic dubs with generous spatterings of indigenous sounds from around the world ladled into the mix. His debut album Blumenkraft was a huge success and spawned a massive following amongst listeners and producers alike.

Ott is no stranger to the studio, he has produced, arranged and recorded for world famous artists including Sinead O'Connor, The Orb, and Brian Eno. Skylon will undoubtedly gather more fans worldwide. Highly regarded by music moguls such as Greg Hunter, Simon Posford, Martin 'Youth' Glover and many more, this second album from him will merely reinforce his status as a leader in art of modern music.

Saturday 1st of November sees what could be one of the biggest party events we've hosted at the Lounge. With a special 3 hour Orb / Dub / Disco set from the legendary Dr. Alex Paterson. We are delighted to have the addition of DJ Pathaan. After a summer jam packed with festivals, travels and 3 cd releases under his name, PATHAAN [Liquid Sound/Globetronica/BBC] returns with a sexy outernational sound of beats and flavours !!!!!!! Dancing is allowed and there is a secret after party nearby, which you will find out about at the inSpiral lounge.We're opening later, until 2am, to make this one of the essential music events of the year.

Bhajan Nights - 4th and 19th November

Led by Harmony, Bhajan Nights will feature uplifting sacred eastern spiritual songs. Audience participation is encouraged, but optional.

Jigoral - Free the Spirit - Free Tibet Fundraiser on Thursday 6th November

Jigoral is the name of the 3rd event we've held at inSpiral to support the Free Tibet campaign in conjunction with Students for a Free Tibet. A new short film will be followed by a talk from a Tibetan woman who secured the film material plus global grooves and backroom beats from Ben Zaven Crane. £3 Entrance.

for the lounge in Camden we are looking for an enthusiastic and professional Front of House Supervisor, experienced in taking on responsibilities and working in team with others!

Here are the must have points:

fluent English language capacity
experience in dealing with customers

ability to work in a team, inspire and lead by example
passion about healthy living and good food
ability to learn swiftly
basic to medium computing skills (excel, word, internet)
flexibility to work early and late shifts throughout the week

Dreadzone Ready to Rock on Saturday

Camden is set to explode on Saturday when Greg Dread and MC Spree will be warming up the weekend with a special appearance of the Dreadzone SoundSystem. Get ready. This is going to be o ne of our biggest nights so far. If you haven't heard Dreadzone live, you're missing one of life's little wonders.

Camden Council have granted a temporary license to dance at this event, so stomp all you like!

We would like to take the opportunity to remind our guests that drinking is not permitted on the streets and we can actually be fined for allowing drinking outside the front of the venue.

To better promote our nutritiously delicious range of cakes, raw cheesecakes, NATURAL BUZZ Truffles and pastry items - we've built a new counter at the front of the lounge to serve you better if you're in a rush and fancy something on the fly.

Bagels are Back!

Returning by popular demand, the infamous Mozzarella, Tomato & Basil bagel that you enjoyed at the festivals this year has returned to our menu! Even better, we're constantly refining our production techniques, so we hope you'll agree the recipe is better than ever before. Stop in and try one when you're passing, they only take 2 minutes to heat up - at only £2.50 each, they're a healthy filler at any time of day!
