Electronica Eclectica - Friday the 6th
Featuring
Red Earth who are Chris Wizard (galactic) and Jess Sparkle (electric) whose DJ style, earlier described as 'psychill with an eastern flavour', now encompasses a diversity ranging from folky electronica to shoegaze to psydub, through a wide range from beatless ambient to progressive, often favouring that ambiguous space between grooving and blissing out, dark electronic or light, melodic and fluffy!
They are accompanied on occasion by a talented
djembe player and a wonderfully graceful fusion
belly dancer, which adds an extra dimension to their sets. Sometimes together and sometimes not, they have played at many parties and festivals around the country including Glastonbury, Glade, Sunrise Celebration, Big Green Gathering, Offworld and Waveform, whilst also hosting the Tranceformation parties in Glastonbury during the winter season. Side projects include
Fluid R
adio and Waveform Festival production.
Gaudi - live in the lounge! 7th of July
Sunday Harmonies - this Sunday the 8th
our acclaimed sunday evening event continues to invite talents from all over the creative spectrum to showcase their art - come along and see what you can soak up or contribute - best enjoyed with a hot cup of chai!
Monday Film Nights - the War on Democracy!

View the trailer
hereThis Monday Cinema Libre showcases the journalist and presenter John Pilgers 'The War on Democracy'. America likes to talk about "spreading democracy", but in his latest film John Pilger argues that the US is actually stifling its progress. The War on Democracy shows that the principles of democracy can be found more readily among the poorest people of Latin America than anywhere near the corridors of the White House. It features an exclusive interview with Hugo Chávez an
d Pilger also speaks to former US government officials who claim the CIA waged covert wars in Latin America. Through this film, Pilger conveys his central belief in the enduring power of the people.
'The War on Democracy', directed by John Pilger & Chris Martin, won Best Documentary at the prestigious One World Media awards in London on 12 June 2008.
The citation read: "There are six criteria the judges are asked to use to select the winner of this award: the film's impact on public opinion, its appeal to a wide audience, its inclusion of voices from the developing world, its high journalistic or production standards, its success in conveying the impact of the actions of the world's rich on the lives of the poor and the extent to which it draws attention to possible solutions. One film met every one of these. It was the winner of the award: John Pilger's 'The War on Democracy'."
AND
